Homework is being checked each morning. Please ensure that your child has written the books he has read in his booklet"Carnet de Lecture" .
Language Arts : This week we are working on writing little booklets about information on animals of the water.
Math:Fast math is being done each day, 5 minutes on either addition or subtraction. This helps to reinforce the simple math equations to 20. We are also starting a section on graphs.
We are still doing centers each morning.
The next month is very important to the success of each child. With the evenings being so bright please try to help them get a good night sleep. I do know sometimes it is difficult.

This week is another short week with the students being off on Friday.
Tues. & Wed=Some of the girls in the class will be attending the music festival.
The scholastic will be called in.
The order for wraps will be sent to office.
Thurs= Hop A THON for MD
Pizza for lunch
We are encouraging to use as little waste as possible to pack our lunches to help the earth.
We are still working with water in our language arts and science. Experiments are being done this week in class. Ask your child about them.
We are finishing Geometry, and starting to look at graphs and doing subtraction with borrowing.
In spelling we are working with the "ph" that gives us the "f" sounds They will also have frequent words that have the same sound.

The Mondays do come quickly. The language arts and math units we are covering remains the same as last week. List 21 words will be tested on Friday. Their pre-test will be written in their agenda tomorrow.
We are beginning a duo-tang on grammar, covering all aspects from capital letters to agreeing verbs and adjectives with the noun.You can empasize these items in their work.
We have started centers where the students work with a partner for 20 min. on math, language aspects or reading. This gives them a chance to get away from their desks as well as learn to work with people other than their friends.
Scholastic orders are to be in by Monday April 19.
On Friday April 16 we are wearing team shirts, hats etc for muscular dystrophy . The students will also have a chance to have a pledge sheet for HOP-A-THON next week. More information to come. Look at the notes on Greenfield Elementary's site.

Happy Easter ! Welcome spring. It certainly seems to be here. The children will be excited to see the fine weather but please be aware there will still be cold days where they'll need warm jackets.
This week we are at classes for 3 days only , so we have to achieve a lot in that time. They will find their desks rearranged when they enter tomorrow morning so I have alloted 20 min. to organize their seat.

This week:Language Arts: We are starting a unit on water. The students will be looking for pictures and information about water in the environment and in their food.

This will also be part of their writing and science.

Math: Our next chapter deals with geometry , where we will work with cubes, spheres, cylinders, cones and pyramids. We will continue to work with

addition and subtraction.

Chocolate bunnies

Good evening, Thursday I spoke to the class about my allergy to chocolate. I asked them to be aware of the amount of chocolate they bring to school for the next week . The strong smell from a large amount of chocolate will make me cough and I will get a raspy voice . At this point I will know to leave the classroom. This allergy is more annoyance that anything else. The normal amount of chocolate in lunches doesn't bother me at all. Iapprreciate their and your concern about this issue.
